Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Lately, I've been hoping to find some Baroque music for trumpet in Bb either solo or w/ a piano accompaniment.

Does anyone have any suggestions or links to sheet music?

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Purcell sonatas aren't very hard, but they would probably be pretty high for a Bb trumpet...
I don't have any links to free sheet music for them (sorry)

The IMC edition of the Purcell Sonata has twp piano reductions, one for D trumpet and one for Bb. Bb version puts the top note on Bb trumpet as an A on the first line above the stave.

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Fitzgerald did several transcriptions of Baroque pieces for trumpet that are pretty good.

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Robert Nagel edited and arranged a book called Baroque Music for Trumpet that is very good. It is designed for the younger player and works very well. Range goes up to an B above the staff. This was originally published by Marks Music, and contains pieces by Bach, Torelli, Fantini, Handel, Purcell, Telemann and more. Very worthwhile book. All arrangements are for Bb Trumpet and Piano.

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Would the Sonata in Bb Major HWV357 by Handel be suitable?

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

Yeah, the oboe sonata in Bb would be fine. Albinoni wrote a fun Concerto in Bb for oboe as well.

Re: Baroque Solo Trumpet Music

All those Dokschitzer transcriptions of albinoni and vivaldi pieces seems appropriate.
