Beginner Solos

Hey All,

I'm looking for some recommendations for beginning, solo trumpet literature. I'm looking for original compositions, not arrangements. I feel stupid for even having to ask, but I know a ton about the "pro" literature and not nearly enough about the beginner lit.

Where is a good place to look for this kind of stuff? I would need something that doesn't have too many sixteenth notes (think quarter=120) and doesn't go any higher than the top line F.

I have plenty of "high school" literature, but I'm looking for stuff for a bare bones beginner in their 2nd or 3rd year of study. Thanks in advance!

Re: Beginner Solos

Huh. So, either this was a really dumb, obvious question to which it received no responses, because I should just know the answer already. Or, it's a really great question that nobody knows the answer to...

In any case, just giving this a bump. I've tracked down some old "Music Minus One" volumes with beginner solos, and I know of the old Rubank ones. But a lot of them are still arrangements. I'm looking for original compositions...

No suggestions? Maybe original compositions of beginner solos for trumpet simply don't exist?

Re: Beginner Solos

A great book is "Trumpet Fancies" compiled by Hugh M. Stuart, Boston Music Company, ISBN 0.7119.1600.4

It consists of 34 solos for beginners as you define them. There is also piano accompaniment.
