| Big MrClean Solo!!! I played a really fun show on New Year’s Eve with the Mesa Symphony, a GREAT Jazz Trio, and Mike Crotty & Deater O’Neill. Mike did all the arrangements as he has for the past several years and this year the show was called “A Musical Tribute to TV’s Golden Era: 1950 – 1965”. In a piece called “A Tribute to Madison Avenue”, we played dozens of popular old commercial themes [like Marlboro (Magnificent 7), Armour Hot Dogs, Folgers, Sara Lee, Etc). Mike ended up scoring one of the themes as a solo for 3rd trumpet (that’s me). I had a prominent four bars over the orchestra of Mr. Clean! Little did he know that a popular trumpet player on this web site also goes by this name! Mi…Fa… Sol, Mi, Mi, Mi, Sol, Mi, Mi, Mi, Sol, Sol, La, Sol, Fa, Mi, Mi, Mi, Fa, Re, Re, Re, Fa, Re, Re, Re, Sol, Fa, Mi, Re, Do! I just had to share that! |

| Re: Big MrClean Solo!!! Derek, Cool! Sound like a way fun concert!! I want to say "there's some great music there;" but, then I'd be outted as a philistine. Oh wait, I probably am a philistine. One of my fav's but it's a bit differnt from what you mentioned (mea culpa mea culpa warning thread-jacking in progress) is the theme from "Dragnet" by Ray Anthony's band on a Capitol release titled "The Crime Scene" from their Ultra Lounge series. They must have a dozen releases along that line, I own 4 or 5. Really fun stuff, "The Bachelor Pad Royale, The Crime Scene, Bossa Novaville, Mambo Fever," and "Organs in Orbit" I blush to confess I'm the proud owner of. And, it really did sound like a wonderful concert!! I wish I were there to hear it. All the Best, Richard Oliver p.s. very cool artwork in the liner notes on these blasts from the pasts too Last edited by Richard Oliver : 01-03-2007 at 04:49 PM. |
