| Bwahh Playing at a concert tommorrow night and the venue has now put a restriction on the length of the program. The programme was: Doi Suthep by David Crisp (first performance) Vaughan Williams Symphony 2 (London) The RVW was the condensed version with the two trumpets and two cornets transferred to two trumpets so a bit of a hard blow in places. The new piece is a hard blow. The composer knows me and it seems to be written to fit my style. Its a good piece and quite challenging. Anyway, they may have to cut the third movement of the RVW. Whoops, thats the movement with hardly any trumpet in it, which was my chance to get my breath (and lip) back for the big solo at the beginning of the fourth movement. Don't you just love promoters and venues? Where is my Bonjella and Jet-Tone? (US readers please note that RVW is UK shorthand for Ralph Vaughan Williams!) |
