| Considering that any solo will only sound as well as you play it, could you help us out with a little more regarding what you're looking for in a solo? How well do you play? There are many solos of varying styles and difficulties. Tomasi wrote a brilliant concerto as did Jolivet. There are solos written for the Bb that sound very well on C. If you give us more info we can be more helpful. ML |

| Something that may sound good for a scholarship audition. For Bb trumpet I'm normally playing standard solos along with the Carnival book. I'm guessing that's around a grade V or VI. As far as style, I'm not really focused on a specific style. As long as it's possible to make it very musical. By that I mean not a solo that everything is technical (I can double and triple tounge) but something that is either a mix or a piece that is lyrical. As you can probably guess, I'm not exactly sure what I'm wanting in a C trumpet solo. I guess I'm really wanting popular ideas on "good" pieces to try to know which direction to go. Thanks again! |

| Pianissimo User | Good call Lawler! I would also recommend Enesco's Legend. Great piece! Rustiques by Bozza is also written for Bb or C, although, you'll probably want to do it on Bb. It gets pretty complicated on C. Quote:
