![]() ![]() ![]() | Farwell My Granada This is one of the most deceptively challenging pieces Mendez ever did. I still have a lot of work to do on the dynamics and breath control, but I still love RM's rendition on the Trumpet Magic Decca album and hold it as one of my goals in life - to be able to approach playing at that level. Here is my practice session on it (also done yesterday just before changing and leaving for work). I hope some folks can enjoy my take on it. Peace. Nick

![]() | Re: Farwell My Granada Terrific playing Nick. One of my favorite Mendez solos is the "Little Russian Donkey". Mendez makes it sound like a walk in the park, but it is really, really nasty. If you have it, can you post your version of it? I have all Mendez's recordings, some are on records well over 40 years old, and the astonishing ease which he displayed when he played the incredibly difficult pieces he wrote or arranged still knocks me out. I wish someone could publish "The Lightning Trumpet". That one is a real gas. Rich T |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Farwell My Granada I have dozen's of the old Koff and Fisher music publications. I'm sure trumpet geeks would consider these collectibles. They are apparently quite hard to find. I'm in the process many of my educational materials (both in physics and music) in PDF format. I need to contact Professor Hickman out west to find out what sort of sharing rules there are regarding copyrights etc. He is apparently the guardian of all things RM! I don't have a copy of the lightening trumpet. I THINK I have a copy of the Little Russian Donkey. I'll have to check. On the agenda before school starts is Dance of the Commedians, Scherzo in D Minor, Mendelesshon Concert and Bambuco. I've got lots more, but this is all I'll have time to mess with regarding my basement videos. Gotta run. Nick
