Firebird

Which version of Firebird Suite is in the International publication of the Orchestral Excerpts books?

Is there a difference in the trumpet parts between the 2 versions Stravinsky wrote?

Which version is more common in auditions? Thanks...

The ballet parts are in A. There is also an off-stage group of trumpets. It's glorious!

At auditions you will probably see the 1918 version.

Thanks, Wilmer! I have a recording of Montreal with Charles Dutoit doing the complete version; I am trying to imagine where the off stage part is. I'll listen on the way in to school tomorrow (quite a drive) and try to find it.

Maybe someday I will get to hear it live...and see it danced.

Better still, I may get the chance to play the suite in the near future. I'll know better in a few weeks...
