foreign players at USA- yes or not ???

Hello all !!!
At first, I must say that I want not to start a polithical or controversial thread.

Today I received a letter from Cincinnati orchestra, in wich I can read "you lack the qualifications and experience needed".
Have two university Diplomas in trumpet teaching and playing. Have a university master in trumpet playing, and other in trumpet teaching.
I'm Professional since I was 16, playing at major symphony orchestras in Europe.
Also, I was invited TWICE to Principal Trumpet position at Chicago Symphony...
After that, I deduce that nobody had read my resume, or maybe everybody were drunk.

What is wrong ???

Kind regards to all, american or not.

Maybe the committee ate something bad for breakfast that morning and that is why you got a rejection letter? Maybe they didn't like the paper your resume was printed on? Did you forget to puff perfume on it?

Who knows, they all say they have the right to reject anyone for pretty much any reason.

Your degrees don't mean a thing. Your orchestral experience does. Care to elaborate on what major full time orchestra you are a member of right now?

Here in Europe, if you have not degrees, nobody will accept you to the audition. Also, degrees are "European Standard" so your degree obtained in Spain means the same that other from Germany, Italy or France (not only in music). The only exception is UK (not for better).

About orchestral experience... Didn't you read that I was invited to Principal Trumpet Audition at CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA in 2.003 and 2.004 ???
Maybe Cincinnati Symphony is asking for better players than Chicago, wich is a real legend ?

Also I must say that other american orchestra sent to me an information requesta about my working status at the USA (if I'm holder of green card or so...).

The real question is:
American orchestras want to hear real musicians from everywhere or only american ???

Re: foreign players at USA- yes or not ???

In my understanding, the Chicago Symphony pretty much heard everybody: this is in their best interest as they won't accidentally eliminate a great player because of lack of experience. Many other orchestras don't want to take the time involved to hear every applicant so they vet based on resumes.
In addition, getting invited to audition only reflects on your resume. If your resume wasn't strong enough for Cincinnati then they don't care who invited you. What matters is how well you did in that audition.

I can't speak to the American v European bias. I have heard that it is easier for a European to get a job in America than for an American to win a job in Europe, but that is just hearsay. I don't know.

Re: foreign players at USA- yes or not ???

I know that some very, very big-name players are taking the Cincinnati audition. Whether this had anything to do with your not being invited or not I don't know, but it seems like a likely explanation.

Also,
The Cincinnati Symphony has several foreign players in it (the principal trombonist is Hungarian), so I doubt it had anything to do with your nationality.
