![]() | "Gabriel" - an opera for trumpet, voices and orchestra Hello Folks, My apologies if you have heard about this project somewhere else. If not, I'd like to let you know about a new project I've been working on. The composition is called "Gabriel" and it is an opera where the trumpeter performs on stage as one of the characters. The work is scored for trumpet, soprano, tenor, baritone and orchestra and contains three solo trumpet arias, several duets and a number of ensemble moments. As is common to my works, there are additional versions with alternate supporting-role voice parts and chamber ensemble as well. The plan is to premiere the work in Sydney at the 2010 ITG conference. A CD recording and video are also in the works. Here are some links, if you are interested in finding out more about the composition: For regular status updates. This site is only a placeholder until the new site is released in January but there is still lots of information about the opera. ITG 2010 Website - thanks, Brian!!! If you are looking to try something new or just want to get out of the pit and onto the stage, please take a look at "Gabriel." Scores will be available this Fall. Best, RJB |
