![]() | Got Talent? Recently our church has held TALENT night for its members and friends. Like an Audition, talent night can be just as scarey. Last Sunday evening was my second talent night Audition if we call it an audition. A few months ago we had our first of these "talent night" services. Several shy members of the church got up and shared a poem or a thought, the little kids sang a favorite song. I was impressed with the overall talent we have sitting in the pews. Well, the first talent night I played 2 short songs on my Cornet. songs that had only a handful of notes. It was scarey getting up there, I wasn't sure if I could get thru it. But I did, and the listeners were so appreciative of my efforts. This last talent night, I played 2 more songs. "Fill My Cup Lord" and "Praise the Name of Jesus" Both still had a handful of notes in the song. With the song "Fill My Cup, Lord", the Pastor encouraged me to "Play it again Sam" and directed the congregation to sing along with me. Oh My! I didn't think I could, but I held on, took a breath and played it again. they liked it enough to compliment me later etc... I'm looking for another simple hymn to add to my list of songs. Practice does make a better performance. Thanks for letting me share my 2 cents. |

![]() | Re: Got Talent? A comeback player working on Book 1 and 2 (standard of Excellence) But its recommended from these websites to end your practice sessions with something easy and FUN. I find some church hymn books have easy fun stuff... So I have a small collection of these Short, easy and FUN pieces. Some are just a chorus...but I think they are FUN. Therefore ending a tough practice session with a FUN rendition of Amazing Grace leaves a good taste inside and a desire to return and try to "Play it again, Sam" Thanks for allowing me to share my 2 cents worth JohnMak |

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free, 'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be, And when we find ourselves in the place just right, 'Twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gain'd, To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd, To turn, turn will be our delight, Till by turning, turning we come out right. In the Tanakh, the Old Testament, the sound of the trumpet was used to call an alarm, or an assembly. In the New Testament it calls souls from the grave. It sounds like you have assembled souls. Cool stuff, to be called to that, and for tips on the right mouthpiece, instrument, and approach, TM is a good place to to be. Nice place to meet nice folk, too.
