| Re: Hardest Piece Ever? The Hardest thing I ever performed was Frank Zappa's "Black Page #2" on a drummer friend's recital in school. The Black Page - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Check out Zappa in NY, with the Brecker brothers. Here is a different live version, no trumpet, but the part is the same. YouTube - The Black Page #2 - Frank Zappa at Palladium New York It is definitely the hardest piece of written music rhythmically and melodically i have every played. Hardest, highest, most demanding: how can we possibly define this. Buddy Richs big band arrangements are extremely tough on the brass section. I would vote for the Richter Concerto when played on the natural trumpet. The melodic lines are so clear that a mistake can easily be defined. On much avant-garde music, the interpretation does allow quite a bit of margin for error. |

| Re: Hardest Piece Ever? I have look at the Tomasi every couple years and put it back in the file cabinet. For me endurance is the issue. It does vary because of the range abilities and limitations of the individual player. But as Robin said to play most anythign musically and with good rhythm, becomes hard. |
