| Haydn, Trumpet Concerto Hi! im looking for a tab/sheet for Joseph Haydns trumpet concerto. Favorably a not too hard version. I dont have to be the whole thing, but not to short either, and favorably some of the "known/famous" parts of the song. like the one that goes; bam, bam-bam, bam-bam-bam-bam bam baaam! bam, bam-bam, bam-bam-bambambam baam. Bam bam, bambambam bamba bam ba ba ba bam bam bam. guess that was kinda stupid, but i hope you get my point. |

| Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto This is the second time today i've read a refernce to "Tabs". Can someone illuminate me? I know it has something to do with an alternate way to read music but that's about all I know. I believe Emeril Lagasse (who actually happens to play trumpet) has an arrangement of the Haydn Concerto that fits the description you detailed. (bam, bam-bam, bam-bam-bam-bam bam baaam! bam, bam-bam, bam-bam-bambambam baam. Bam bam, bambambam bamba bam ba ba ba bam bam bam.) ML |

| Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto Hey Manny, I first saw trumpet "tabs" when I was searching for some ska sheet music a few years ago. I stumbled across horntabs.net. The tabs are basically just note names. They'll say C# or C+ if a note is sharp and Bb or B- if a note is flat. Sometimes they give you the octave that the note is to be played by providing a number next to the letter. There really isn't a consistent way of doing it though, and of course there is no way of showing rhythm, so you have to be familiar with the song prior to reading the tab. Peace Chris |

| Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto Here's an example of a site that posts trumpet tab: http://horntabs.net/ Pretty much what Chris stated, if you don't already know how the tune sounds, tab is useless. Guitar players use tab quite a bit. I've met pro's who will even use it to remind them of the best fingering to use in difficult passages (same as trumpet & piano players writing in fingering above a note). String tablature actually pre-dates our present notation system. The main thing tab generally lacks is duration (rhythm) hence the need to know the tune. When students and parents at school are looking for a guitar teacher, there are a few I recommend over others since some in our area only teach tab. I of course would rather have the student be able to play guitar by reading the notes instead of just knowing how to put the right finger on the right string! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto Yet another example of dumbing down. I could read music when I was in the second grade. I could play simple melodies after a few lessons. If you have chops enough to play those things at horntabs.net, why not learn to read music. Imagine "The Carnival of Venice" written in that tab language Wilmer |

| Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto Absolutely incredible... the trouble people go to not to go to any trouble. I mean, if you already know what the note names are, fer cryin' out loud... oh, never mind, I'm just an idiot, I suppose. ML |

I am glad you didn' say Toru Takemitsu's Paths or any other piece with sophisticated rythms, though the Carnival will be hard enough to tab | |
