Heading to see the Orchestra

Hey Manny. My wife and I will be making a trip to come out and see the orchestra Saturday night. It will be our first trip to see an orchestra in 4 years since we relocated to MN from Chicago. Can't Wait!

Matthew,

I hope you and your lovely wife enjoy the show. I hear the flutist is terrific (Doug and Marty are playing the concerto). The Adam's is a crowd pleaser with a surprise ending... but you have to be acquainted some some very antiquated stuff to get the "joke".

As far as Sibelius is concerned... a great Finnish conductor conducting great Finnish repertoire.... need I say more?

Enjoy,

ML

Now this is a fun concert! In the opera Pat Nixon utters my favorite line......"Let's show these Mothers how to dance" Pat finishes the M word
The Sibelius has that wonderful clarinet solo in the beginning of the work.......did I tell you about a concert I played where the clarinetist grabbed the wrong horn? It was gorgeous until the full orchestra came in a half step higher

While I did not attend, I did tune in for the Sibelius. It was a fantastic, refreshing rendition of a beautiful work. Osmo's interpretation was very unique, crisp and passionate. I really enjoyed it.

The brass kicked major booty tonight Manny. The orchestra shined and I believe I heard a bit of rosin flying tonight. Congrats on a great show!

heard the broadcast i missed part of the adams

really liked the flute concerto and how Aho could write in a style that is appealing to listeners without regurgitating mahler. beautifully played, lots of nice tunes and that is uses both flute and alto flute and the sound contrast between the two.

the sibelius sounded fantastic.

wish i could attend more live, but on sub teacher pay cant afford to.

Just got back from the performance. Absolutely wonderful! I think we'll have to start making the orchestra a regular date night. Nice meeting you this evening Manny.
