Hungarian Dance #5

As I continue to practice and study and strive to improve to the point of becoming a viable candidate as a DMA student in the next couple of years, I've been revisiting the music of one of my childhood heroes, Mendez. I've already done practice videos of La Virgen de la Macarena and Jota #1. Yesterday before I went to work I ran two pieces. This first one was Mendez's take on Hungarian Dance #5. It has a little jazzy/bluesy section in the middle. I personally think the jazz part is VERY well written. It is a nice line!

I am striving to train myself to crossover into this type of playing while still maintaining my lead skills.

I do home someone can enjoy this.

Peace.

Nick

Re: Hungarian Dance #5

I AM artist in residence - in my basement!

Seriously, Jon, you are very kind. I love playing this thing - ALL aspects of it, and the aspects that I don't get to share on my gigs, I want to share online.

I am re-loading the Hungarian Dance #5 into Youtube from a wmv raw file instead of mpg. The audio really got distorted in the upload process. I'll repost once I get the sound sorted out a bit.

Re: Hungarian Dance #5

Nick,

I will dare to make a little critic, I hope that you don't mind. I haven't heard the Mendez' version played by himself, but knowing the original piece I would say that though the technical and phrasing aspect of your performance is very good as always, you don't hold enough some of the half notes and start the double crochet after that too soon. I hope that you don't mind me pointing that out - your performance is still most enjoyable

Re: Hungarian Dance #5

Use the following link for Hungarian Dance #5. The sound is better.

I'm taking the original down.

Nick

PS: I guess I need to dig up my metronome! My bad.
