| I have a transposing question 1. I have some simple transposition question if I have a trumpet part written in do I transpose up one half step or down step if I知 using my B-flat trumpet 2. If I have a trumpet part written in E and I use a B-flat trumpet I know that I transpose up a tritone (Augmented 4th) or 6 half steps right. What do you do if it is a C trumpet is it up a major third (3 half steps up)? |

| Forte User | Actually...wouldn't a major third be TWO whole steps up from the starting note (minor third is the three 1/2 steps originally referenced). C to D is one whole step, D to E is another (two) whole step. The INTERVAL from C to E is a third, but it's actually two whole steps.... |

| Mezzo Forte User | i post this in all the transposition posts: "go from whats in your hand, to whats on the stand" Bb-C is a whole step up, so u trans. up a whole step Bb-A, is a half step down, so u trans down a half step its so easy when u think about it like that.... |
