![]() | Italian Operas (4 trumpets) What are some popular Italian Operas that are scored for 4 trumpets? I need this for the story that I’m writing for the Eclipse contest. Thanks!

![]() | Re: Italian Operas (4 trumpets) The only popular Italian opera I can think of is Otello. I think most of the others take two to three. You aren't meaning including offstage parts I gather, so, that's my contribution. ML |

![]() | Re: Italian Operas (4 trumpets) Thanks Manny! I just need to have 4 players in the building at the same time to make my story work, so I’ll go with Verdi’s Otello.

![]() | Re: Italian Operas (4 trumpets) If you include Banda trumpets you have more to choose from: off the top of my head are Boheme, Turandot, Rigoletto, and Aida, in addition to Otello.

La Bohème would actually be cooler in my story than Otello. Are the Banda parts throughout the opera or do they just play in a specific Act? It's important for me to know so that I can write the story to assure that all four players are in the building at the same time.

![]() | Re: Italian Operas (4 trumpets) Thanks Wilmer! Would the players covering the banda parts arrive before the first act, or would they get there just as the intermission between Act I and II was starting? I guess I could have the banda player(s) downstairs in a practice room prior to the start of Act I so that they would be available for a brief discussion before the opera starts. Details, details...
