| Re: Malcolm Arnold, Tom Stevens, Vaclav Nelhybel Malcolm Arnold - Hoffnung Fanfare For 36 Trumpets!! Written for the memorial service of Gerard Hoffnung (1960). Performed by the Trumpeters of the Royal Military School of Music and then presented to Mr Hoffnung's widow afterwards. It was rediscovered by James Olcott in 1987 and is now published by Triplo Press. |

I'm trying to write program notes, so the basics of when and under what circumstances it was composed, basic style of music, etc. It doesn't look like the piece is even listed on his website... Thanks, Jimi | |

![]() | Re: Malcolm Arnold, Tom Stevens, Vaclav Nelhybel Jimi, Tom wrote Moudon Fanfares for one of the original James Stamp classes that Jean-Pierre Mathez (Editions BIM/Brass Bulletin) organized in Switzerland (take a look at your Stamp book -- the photos inside are all from those classes). It's scored for double trumpet 5tet and 2 "soloists" who stand between the 2 bands. Hakan Hardenberger, by the way, was one of the original soloists (he must have been a teenager) Have you tried Google (keywords title and composer)? PM me your address and I'll send you a recording. Sorry that I can't help with detailed notes other than the titles of the movements: Fanfare Deux a Dix, Fanfare BIM, Fanfare Tranquille, Fanfare Clifford, Fanfare Epilogue Deux a Dix. Best, EC |
