Mathias Höfs new CD

Hi everybody!

I just want to let you know, that Matthias Höfs has brought out a new CD.
It´s called "Trumpet Acrobatics". In my opinion a "must buy"
Here are the front and the back of the CD:

Outstanding technique and sound. Almost everything played on a German rotary trumpet. Even the "Carnival of Venice".
For me the best last variation of the carnival and the most musical (not fastest) Goedicke I have ever heard.
Time to buy yourself a Christmas present

Greetings from Germany

Marco

Marco,

I fully agree with you.

At first listen I had the same thought about Goedicke.
(I have many, many version of this piece btw)
Dokshizer has a fine version, but it is so fast that the pianist has trouble.
Close to this one is the Philip Smith/Joseph Turrin version.

What I also liked with this CD, is the pieces I have not heard before, Crespo, Piazzolla, Lawrence (the Gerswin tune).

Matthias is one of the outstandig trumpeters today, IMO!

I just checked the Spaeth-Schmid website (Internationale Blechbläsernoten, Texte, Compact Discs und Ensembles) and the CD is not yet listed. They do speak English, and Martin Schmid is a fine trumpet player in his own right, so you might want to give them a call.
