![]() | The Metropolitan Opera Goes to the Movies! I received this email message from the Metropolitan Opera and wanted to let people know about it. David Krauss mentioned to keep my eyes open for these productions after Christmas this year, and they look like they will all be great! I’m going to take my whole family to the Magic Flute performance on December 30 at the Desert Ridge 18 (21001 N Tatum Blvd. STE 32 Phoenix AZ 85050) theaters that will be showing this HD presentation of the Met (the only theater doing this in the Phoenix Metro Area). I’m also really excited about seeing the Barber of Seville based on the brief Letterman appearance earlier this month and Eugene Onegin with Renee Fleming. Here are all the details of the six matinee HD Movie performances this season along with which theaters will be offering this in your area. ![]() For theater locations and tickets, click here: • United States All HD broadcasts are live at: 1:30 pm EST (12:30 pm CST, 11:30 am MST, 10:30 am PST) For production information, click the links below. ![]() Mozart: The Magic Flute, December 30, 2006 ![]() Bellini: I Puritani, January 6, 2007 Tan Dun: The First Emperor, January 13, 2007 ![]() Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin, February 24, 2007 ![]() Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville), March 24, 2007 Puccini: Il Trittico, April 28, 2007

![]() | Re: The Metropolitan Opera Goes to the Movies! I took my 2nd grader to see the live Met broadcast at an HD Movie Theater in Scottsdale today. The production was Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and it was simply spectacular. There must have been at least 10 different cameras capturing all of the action. The sound was impeccable, and the overall production almost felt like we were at Lincoln Center. Amazing. I would highly recommend going to see one of these productions if you have been considering it. David and Peter, I’ve never seen so many leaves in my entire life! I couldn’t tell they were leaves at first, and I thought that the Mother and the Nanny had gone crazy peeling apples! I’m sure it was quite a job to clean the stage up after the first act. The horn section sounded fantastic. I really enjoyed the duet that the principal player had with Renee Fleming in the first act. And the two trumpet fanfare after the duel was right on. Just out of curiosity, who dropped their mouthpiece during the third act? I reached to see if my mouthpiece had fallen out of my pocket, but then I realized that what I heard must have been from in the pit (during the solo by Prince Gremin). We did go to the lobby and get a drink and a box of Milk Duds during intermission. What a way to see the Met! Take care,
