| Minnesota Archives 2004-5 Dear friends, I recently found out that if you go to mpr.org and click on the Minnesota Orchestra broadcasts link you can hear archived MO broadcasts from last year! Who knew? Here's the link: http://minnesotaorchestraradio.publi...org/listening/ Among the broadcasts are Pictures, Hary Janos, Verdi's requiem, 4 Beethoven symphonies, and other assorted treats. No, you can't download them unless you're skilled at such things (in which case, you'd better send me a copy! Anyways, I've been enjoying these little trips down memory lane and hope that you will, too, if you're so inclined. It's a cheap way to hear some repertoire if you don't already have recordings. You can hop around the concert by pointing and clicking, you don't have to hear the entire show in order. Happy listening! ML |

![]() | Nothing special, I was just curious who was playing that part. Like we always check the trumpetplayers names on a cd. Plus I only heard your clips recorded in Monettes store, so it's nice to hear you in a orchestra setting. |

| I get it, Erik. Just so you know, you can pretty much always expect me to be playing principal on pieces in that archive except for most concerti. My assistant/3rd trumpet is named Doug Carlsen and always does a beautiful job playing in my absence. The second player is Bob Dorer and Chuck Lazarus who is on leave for just this year is our 4th and utility player. On the Leonore 3 in that archive Doug is playing the offstage solo. This year I have played a little less because of my assistant conductor position so, Doug has played a bit more. In July it seems they're going to put up material from this past season. Stay well, ML |

| Forte User | Manny- I'm listening to Pictures right now. What a gorgeous sound you have! Beautiful vibrato...all those concepts you talk about.. they are so obvious in your playing. You sound so relaxed yet your sound is so incredibly large. I wish I could be in the hall hearing you live. (Kinda far for me, though!) Beautiful. Simply beautiful. The brass section sounds just as rich as can be imagined...wonderful blend. Full, rich. What a wonderful sounding orchestra! ps: It's now in my bookmarks bar. Now I can work this into some lessons! pps: Which horn are you playing the Promenade on? Did you have your Prana at that point yet? |
