MO in NY Hey Manny... Took awhile for me to get around to this, but I wanted to pass along how much I enjoyed the Minnesota Orchestra concert in New York on the 13th. It was a very memorable performance by a world class orchestra and it was great to hear you and your fellow performers demonstrating all the terrific musicianship that you write about here on TM. Anyway, you've heard all this sort of thing before... Also, one mundane question... I used to have to play rotary trumpet a lot when I was in school, and I could never really find a suitable mouthpiece for it. What were you using and what do you practice to get comfortable on those horns? I really loved your sound on both the piston and rotory horns, by the way. Thanks again for a killer performance! Jason.

Re: MO in NY Jason, We were using the orchestra's Schagerl rotaries which we bought on a trip to Vienna. I use my same piston mouthpiece, a Monette C1-4S Prana. My piston horn was a Raja #888 from the early nineties. I'm happy you came and enjoyed the show. See you next year at Avery Fisher for Mahler 1! ML

Re: MO in NY ML... Thanks for the info... I think I remember an old Monette add in the ITG add with a picture of a your Raja C. I don't mean to sound fixated on your equipment...it was the last thing on my mind as I listened! Our school rotaries were a little rough. One sounded like it had a hole in it, although in its defense, it DID have a hole in it (it played marginally better after it was fixed). Anyway, thanks again... I'll be there for Mahler 1 for sure! Jason.
