More from my first Orchestra Like performance

Well,

The first thread I posted went over so well I thought I'd post a few other pieces we did.

Hark the Hearld Angels Sing is the first clip. I really love to play melodic tunes and I think that this piece shows it. Me and Mr. McMillan really had it in sync here I think.

The next clip shows my more imperfect side. Here I am blowing my entrance for about 8 bars until I finally get in sync with Mr. McMillan and the rest of the ensemble. The song is Let Us Celebrate; a surprisingly up tempo song for a Catholic Church. It sounded good; I think once I got on the same page with everyone.

[/quote]

Again; thanks everyone for all the comments and for helping me develope into the Trumpet player that I've always wanted to be.

I shudder to think "what might have been" had TM existed when I was in School in the late 70's and Early 80's.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing was on Bb and Let Us Celebrate I played on my C and Mr. McMillan played his Bb. The Key signature was B Major (Yuck) so I played it on C.

All the best,
John

Good clips John,

I'd be every pleased with them were I you.

You've come a long way in a year, and now you're playing Bb and C trumpets on the same gig and doing well.

"Atta boy John!"

Re: More from my first Orchestra Like performance

John, I thought they were both really good clips: the trumpets really seemed to lead everybody else with some terrific counter-melodies in Hark the Herald Angels Sing: you should be really proud.

To be honest, I wouldn't have noticed that you were marginally out of sync in Let Us Celebrate if I hadn't been listening out for it. You're right that is surprisingly upbeat for a Catholic Church: I can't imagine my church letting us play that! But again, it was a wholly convincing performance: it sounded good the whole way through!

Really well done: you should be really proud!

Chris.

John,

Thanks for posting. Some crisp articulations on the 2nd piece. Also listening to the music and words just put a big smile on my face. Keep at it!

Regards,

Richard Oliver

Re: More from my first Orchestra Like performance

Thanks again everyone. I'm really touched to have such positive feedback.

This really was the gig of a lifetime for me; I can't wait to do something similar very soon!
