| MYS Concert Apparently you all missed the best concert of the season. As Manny mentioned in a previous post, last Sunday night The Minnesota Youth Symphony played the Rite of Spring. In a nutshell, it was truly amazing. I’ve never seen an orchestra work so hard and respond so eagerly to their conductor. I can honestly say there were many times I forgot I was listening to a group of High School students. All of the soloists were right on the money and the balance was perfect. Manny was a madman at the podium. About half way through he broke his baton in half. Part went into the violins and the other half into the crowd. When it was all over, the crowd jumped to its feet. The thunderous standing O lasted forever as he walked through the orchestra to highlight each of the kids. I can’t say enough about what an incredible evening that was. Ya shoulda been there! Franz |

| Re: MYS Concert Yeah, it was amazing. I was watching this from the third tier boxes, so I mostly saw violins and brass. The audience was extreamly involved, which was great. I liked when Manny interacted with crowd by trying to reenact (spelling?) the riot that broke out at the debut of the Rite of Spring. That was a nice introduction to the piece; really setting the tone (excuse the pun). |
