Smile Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

Well, just curious here...does anyone know of a really good arrangement of Nessun Dorma for trumpet and piano? I'm wanting to add it to the list of things for my senior recital, but I don't know of any arrangements that exist(if any do.) Just curious to see what's out there.

Russ

Tracks can also be bought and downloaded now, for 99 cents a track. I know probably nobody here will do it, but it's worth a shot. :)

Re: Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

Thanks-that's a start at least. Maybe I could make an arrangement out of that. I didn't know if any published piano/trumpet duets existed for that song. Anyway, I'm a piano player too, so that's pretty cool. Thanks!

Re: Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

I am sure that there is also a complete piano/voice reduction of Turandot.
I did study countertenor in the 70s, but Puccini was not on the list of required repertoire!

Re: Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

I know Robert Sullivan recorded it, but I have no idea if the arrangement is avaliable. It's on his Treasures for Trumpet CD.

I woud suggest just playing the vocal part from a vocal/piano reduction. I did that with Songs of a Wayfarer last Spring and it worked quite well.

Just get a voice and piano part and play off of it. I'm sure your school library has one and it's much easier than tracking down an arrangement.

Re: Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

Fantastic..thanks Seth. I'll have to take a look about getting them. Interesting that one is on Bb, and the other on Bb or Eb-I'm already doing the Sachse on Eb so maybe I could play that one on there too. Speaking of which...anyone heard Jens Lindemann play the Sachse Concertino? He adds some crazy stuff in there..wish I could find that edition.

Re: Nessun Dorma Trumpet/piano...

Russ-

Chances are that Jens is doing some of his own stuff there. If you really like it, listen to it and work it out by ear or transcribe it yourself. That will help you work on more than your Googling skills!

Don't be afraid to play the Sachse the way YOU want - the time to start being your own musician and making your own decisions is now.

As for Nessun Dorma, listen to as many different singers as possible - there is a range of interpretations there as well. And listen to it in context - several singers do it quite differently in concert than in an opera performance, and it is good to have both references. Still - do it your way!

Best-
