![]() ![]() | New concert season I am getting back in gear for the beginning of the new season. My list of pieces for the next few concerts has arrived. We seem to have moved more into the late classical and romantic repertoire since a change of conductor. The last piece on the list is a modern piece which was an original commission for us a few years ago. Plenty of trumpet in that one. Saint Saens 2nd Piano Concerto Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade Carmen Overture Mendelssohn wind Overture Vaughan Williams English Folksong Suite Brahms Hungarian Dances Crisp Doi Suthep

![]() ![]() | Re: New concert season No I don't. Normally I just play A cornet parts on Bb cornet. Is there a nasty surprise waiting for me there?

![]() ![]() | Re: New concert season Do you mean an F natural in Bb? My cornet has an extending bit on the third valve which allows that to be played, although its a bit of a cludge as you have to set up for it a few bars before.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New concert season A while ago there was a discussion on TH about this. Dave Hickman wrote " what's the big deal? just pull the slides to A and play it as written" It's been a long time so I might have it wrong. I think that's what I would do if I ever had to play it again.
