![]() | Re: New Michael Sachs Website Mr. Sachs, Nice website! Have you ever performed on the King Mini-trumpet? I saw Charlie Schlueter use one once in the BSO. It was only for one note, a ppp high F in the Ligeti Cello Concerto (I think). It was the perfect fit for what the music called for. He had to whittle down a mouthpiece to make it fit. I wish I had one of those, if only for comic relief... -Jimi Michiel |

I've only used the King mini-trumpet for the Mozart Toy Symphony, seems to be perfect for that. It's a great little trumpet and actually works quite well (it's basically a little Bb piccolo trpt). This horn also has alot of sentimental meaning for me- It was presented to my first teacher, Ziggy Elman, and if you look closely at the engraving it has his name on the bell. Really wonderful piece that I had the chance to buy maybe 10 years ago from the family who co-owned the music store with Ziggy where I took my first lessons. Looking further down the page- As far as the work on my horns, all restoration and overhaul work was done by Bob Malone before he left LA. I started gold plating my horns in 1984 after I realized that my acidic sweat was eating away at my horns to a point where either I gold plated them or risked losing them all together. Once I did this I really liked the feel and sound better on my C and then eventually gold plated my Eb and Piccolo too. Thanks to everyone for checking out my website, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Take care, MS | |
