![]() | My new Summer Suite for trumpet has been called "an outstanding piece - a work of great depth and beauty!" by Washington, DC, trumpeter Richard Harris. The accompaniment is available in four different arrangements: for piano, string quartet, string orchestra and chamber orchestra. You may listen to a demo recording made by Matt Burke (with piano accompaniment) and the premiere performance by Brian Chin (with string quartet) at gregbartholomew.com. Nathaniel Mayfield and Julie Loeb Sacks gave the premiere performance of the arrangement for trumpet & piano on July 6, 2009, at the American Festival for the Arts in Houston, Texas. Here are links for the YouTube videos of their performance:

![]() | Re: New trumpet suite: "Summer Suite" by Greg Bartholomew I purchased that suite and I quite agree with Mr. Harris' assessment -- it's a gem of a piece which deserves to be performed near and far. I do hope that you have submitted it to ITG for consideration to be included in the new music recitals (assuming they'll have some in Sydney as they did in Harrisburg.) I encourage all the members of this forum to support Mr. Bartholomew and purchase this piece and then perform it (either in its entirety or a single movement) whenever/wherever you can. It's a beautiful and fun piece of music. |

![]() | Re: New trumpet suite: "Summer Suite" by Greg Bartholomew Thanks, David. I really appreciate your generous comments. I am working with Adrian Kelly, one of the commissioning trumpeters for the Suite, to submit Summer Suite to be performed at the Sidney ITG conference. Please let me know if you have an opportunity to perform or record the Suite or any part of it. |

![]() | Re: New trumpet suite: "Summer Suite" by Greg Bartholomew Until today, the only recording I had of the May 1 premiere of "Summer Suite" for trumpet with string quartet was taken from my video camera. It was pretty good for a video camera but it had a lot of background static. Today I got the recording that was made with real audio equipment. The improved recording is now up on my website: www.gregbartholomew.com/summer.html |
