new world symphony sub-list audition....

They are having auditions here in aspen in a few days. All the time were full when i signed up, but maybe i can still get an audition.

They just ask for a solo, and 3 exceprts of your choice.

I think i am going to play:
Tomasi Mvt 1
Mahler 5
Pines off stage
Don juan opening

Think that list is ok? Enough contrast in stuff, or should i take out don juan and put somthing else in? I was thinking somthing more like ravel or petrushka, but dunno if those will be clean enough by tuesday....

J,

I like your list because of the Tomasi. It gives them a good idea about whether your technical chops are up to snuff. The other pieces are good. Have Petrushka ready because it wouldn't surprise me if they said "Hmm... nice job. Can you play the Ballerina's Dance?"

Do well,

ML

Just got back from the audition.

It went really well, not amazing, but pretty good.

I took a shot before i went in, lol. of lemon juice i squeezed right before. This was to help with the dry mouth problem i have been having.

I played:
Tomasi mvt 1 page 1 (was good, couldve been a little cleaner)
mahler 5 (damn opening triplets couldve been better, but nailed the rest)
american in paris (couldnt have gone any better)
don juan opening (nailed it)

So overall i feel good about it. Not expecting anything, but would be really cool if i got on the list.
