NY Phil featured in latest Brass Herald

I just wanted to give anyone interested a heads-up about the latest edition (Dec-Jan) of the "Brass Herald" magazine. The New York Philharmonic Brass Principals are on the cover (Phil, Joe and Phil). I love Joe's smirk. There is a nice article and a great photo of the entire brass section. (Hello and congrats to the new faces in the trumpet section, Jim Ross and Matt Muckley ). There is also a nice article on Jens Lindemann.

For all of the Alison Balsom and/or Maynard fans, you should pick up the last edition (Oct-Nov). Alison is featured on the cover and has a nice interview with Giles Whittome. Giles is the gentleman who makes mouthpieces out of ebony, ivory and all in between, and a wonderfully interesting man. Anyway, there is a nice interview with Alison and a tribute to Maynard Ferguson as well. Both issues are a great read and worth picking up.

Re: NY Phil featured in latest Brass Herald

It is a good one, the latest issue - comes with my full endorsement

Then again, Philip has yet to produce anything that I wouldn't recommend.

If you don't subscribe already, I would thoroughly recommend that you do so - there isn't a finer brass publication out there.
