| Pianissimo User | Patrick Kunkee/Jeff Bailey Does anyone know these guys? They are co-principal trumpet players in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, which happens to be my "hometown" orchestra. I'm just looking to maybe get some lessons with them this summer during my free time. It would be a great experience for me I think. To work with a professional orchestral player would be amazing. Thanks in advance for any information. |

| Hope you can get some lessons with them! I don't know about orchestral abilities, but Jeff Bailey is an awesome lead player (I've mostly heard him with Truth). He also has a method out there with play-along/print your own CDs. Wish I was there, but here in town we have Manny and Dave Baldwin and Steve Wright and Bernie Edstrom and the Wisconsin guys to study with. So many teachers, so little time..... |

| Do it. I lived in Nashville for 4 years (for undergrad) and never got a lesson with anyone from the symphony, and I definitely regret it now. I heard Mr. Kunkee do an incredibly sweet and musical Hummel, and actually got a chance to hear Mr. Bailey up close when he played with my teacher (Allan Cox at Vanderbilt) on a trumpet/organ recital. Both are incredible---it would also be worth it to try to get a lesson with Mr. Cox, an amazing musician. Have a great summer! |

| RAS I think you are thinking of Steve Patrick. Steve I know for certain played with Truth and Maynard. I'm fairly sure Jeff is not really a lead player. He is a wonderful legit player however. I have taken lessons from Steve and he is an amazing player and a wealth of knowledge. He can be contacted at www.spmusicalservices.com. You can probably get in touch with Jeff trough this link http://www.mtsu.edu/~music/bailey.html. Good Luck! Eric |

| Tweetfaip Jeff's name is on one CD that I own, but so is Mike Haynes. I guess I just always assumed Jeff was on lead Jeff does have a wonderful legit sound on the CDs with his method (the six-part practice routines). Haynes has an exceptional, effortless high register. (Wish I did!) Ray |

| Usually when Jeff and Mike are both listed, Mike is playing lead. From what I understand Mike has been pretty much "the" lead player in Nashville since the mid 80's. I got to sit in on a studio session with Mike, Steve, and Jeff and generally it's Mike on lead, then Steve, then Jeff. They do change it up a bit depending on what exactly they are playing with Jeff playing the legit stuff and Steve the big band stuff. They are all great players and super great guys. Regards, Eric |

| Pianissimo User | Well, my private teacher has taken from Mr. Kunkee a few times and is suppose to be asking about lessons for me the next time he goes back. They are both amazing players and I would be honored just to play with them. |

| Pianissimo User | I should add Gary Armstrong to this list as well. He is third trumpet in the Nashville Symphony and I think co-principal as well. I heard him play the Haydn today and was amazed. Any information about this fellow guys? |
