![]() | Pines of Rome Hey all, I just wanted to mention how AWESOME Respighi's "Pines of Rome" is! I had the good fortune of being asked to play an offstage horn (as in french! I'm needing to do all sorts of transposing and octave switching!) part, and I'm loving it! This is only my second time playing with an orchestra, but this experience just reinforces why I'm a performance major! The performance is this Sunday...I hope my chops last! Jeff |

![]() | Re: Pines of Rome Good luck with it. It's a fun piece to play - our brass band played it as the final piece on a concert a couple of years ago. It was quite demanding that late in the program.

![]() | Re: Pines of Rome Jeff, Have fun with this one! Pines was on my first orchestra concert as a freshman in college. I played the 3rd onstage trumpet part. It was quite the introduction to the world of orchestral playing. I remember having to sit in a practice room for hours and hours to get my tounging up to speed on the triplets at the opening of the first movement. Fun times!
