Please help figure out song?!

I apologize at the offset for asking such a newbie thing, but I'm just getting back into playing... first time since high school, and I want to learn a quick set of shots from Annie Lennox's cover of Train in Vain on the album, Medusa.

I just need to know what the notes are, because I'm not at a point were I can figure them out by ear yet. (Only playing since Christmas...)

If anyone could help me this, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you so much.

Do you read music, or, do you intend to learn to play strictly by ear?

Re: Please help figure out song?!

bleek,
I do not know of a way to BEAM this info into your brain- We need a common language to describe pitch and duration as well as loudness. This is called musical notation and is the basis of communication.
There is another concept called paying your dues, and even if you can get some notes out of the horn, how can we describe what band aid is required to play that piece - without adequate fundementals?
It would be to your benefit to buy or borrow a beginners trumpet method to get started. Once you are comfortable with the language, we can zero in on helping you - with a chance for success!
Good luck practicing!

There are sites like Sheet Music Downloads & Books | Musicnotes.com that you can get all kinds of sheet music from.
If you put 'annie lennox sheet music' with the inverted commas, it will show you some of the sites. You can also put the name of the song you want inside the inverted commas.

Another option is to see if anyone has made a midi file of it and then "deconstruct" the midi file to produce the notation.

Re: Please help figure out song?!

thanks for the input everybody!
Oldlou, I can read music, but I've only got a couple of days to do this and was hoping to find someone who could tell what the notes were just by ear... SO lazy, I know!
I've picked up a couple of great books to refresh the fundies, but yeah, like I said, just trying to take the fast and easy route this one time...

Hey guy: Know your dilemma. Ya might want to get a keyboard to help ya out in the future. A real quick fix if ya got any ear. Sorry can't help ya with Lennox, but if ya noticed, there was a common theme in a lot of the answers. Luck, Franco
