Manny Laureano has a spectacular aura about
There's more and more of that going on these days. It used to be an option but now they're asking players to bring them to auditions. I don't get it, frankly. I think a player can play the excerpts on their regular horn and if they get they job, fine, let them know they have to buy a rotary to play. Or tell them the orcestra owns them and they'll be expected to play them. Do they think a great, audition-winning player is not going to be able to figure how to play on one? Whatever... yeah, be ready to have to play one for certain auditions.

The Chicago Symphony in their many auditions for principal trumpet, asked for rotary trumpet and stated which one for several pieces and the rest was up to the individual player.

At the price of the even the production model rotaries, (Yamaha, Bach) I am with Manny on this.
