Season Rep

One of the community orchestra's that I play in has just announced the programing for next season. There are two pieces that have been scheduled that I am not famliar with, Respighi "Church Windows" and Jennifer Higdon "Blue Cathedral". I would like some information about the trumpet parts (if any) for these two pieces. Such things as: How many parts are there; What keys are they in; Any range considerations; etc.
Also, are there any specific recordings of these that you would reccomend.
Any information that I can get would be helpfu.

Thanks
Chris

Church Windows has an off-stage D trumpet part, it bears looking at.

Re: Season Rep

Cincinnati (Lopez-Cobos) and Philadelphia (Ormandy) Both made nice recordings of Church Windows

Re: Season Rep

The off-stage solo is quite beautiful and quite challenging. It is a higher tessitura than the Pines of Rome solo. It goes to a written high C in the D trumpet part.

Re: Season Rep

Thanks for the info. Are the Respighi parts available anywhere? It might be kind of nice to take an early look at the D trumpet pat.

Re: Season Rep

You can get the second movement of "Church Window" at iTunes for $.99. The Cincinnati version is nice.
