Solo Trumpet w/ Brass Ensemble

I have been asked to play a solo piece with a brass ensemble and need some suggestions. I am just starting to look, and haven't found much.

The Vizzutti Rising Sun is cool... but not sure if I can really pull that off...maybe but not like Jens, lol.

Any ideas?

Re: Solo Trumpet w/ Brass Ensemble

The Sachse Concertino is a great, fun piece. Brass band accompaniment available through Robert King, I think.

You can do it either on E-flat trumpet or B-flat piccolo. I like it on E-flat. It's fun, cute, and a crowd-pleaser.

JCS,

Askell MASSON: Shadows (Concerto for trumpet & brass 5tet). It's a VERY effective piece.

Stites- Check out Plog's Concerto for trumpet and Brass Choir. I think there is a recording with Vosburgh out there, as well as one with Hickman and Summit Brass I believe. Hope things are going well!

Jonathan,

email Ron Holz at Asbury. He should have hundreds of ideas. Tell him you were Mark's student last year. Or... send a note to Vince? let us all know what you decided on!

Thanks for the replies.

Wow. I didn't even realize I had 2 recordings of the Plog (Vosburgh and Hickman). I love it!

Arlo - I will send him an e-mail, thanks.
