Stephenson Sonata has Wind Ensemble accompaniment

Hello everyone,

This has been my most popular work for some time, and I keep forgetting to tell everyone that there is also a wind ensemble (concert band) accompaniment available as well.

Commissioned by Rich Stoelzel, the piece has been recorded (w/piano) by Rich, Matt Sonneborn (princ. tpt. Naples Philharmonic), Jouko Harjanne and soon released by John Aley.

To hear it, you can do a mouse-over on Sonata at this page (and click listen): James Stephenson compositions for brass

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Stephenson Sonata has Wind Ensemble accompaniment

Hi James
I've contacted you before . If you remember we discussed the difficulties of reducing an orchestral score down for piano. I have to say I've just listened to your Trumpet Concerto again which I enjoyed very much. A great mixture of technique, tonal colour and styles. I like the way you use instruments sparingly when the trumpet is playing in ordr to keep the balance.
I've just been writing some new stuff which you may have seen just posted below yours.I think at times, particularly when writing for Brassband I overcook it a little. Although its difficult to hear exactly because the brass sounds on the Sibelius aren't that clear.
You might like to have a listen to my Trumpet Concerto with Orchestra. I'd love to get some feedbackfrom a fellow explorer!!
Best wishes
Steve
