Re: Susan Slaughter to retire.

I knew Susan way back before either one of us want to remember. She is a fine player and I wish her well.

Re: Susan Slaughter to retire.

Thank you for the link.

I was privileged to study with Susan for approx. a semester back when she was Principal Trumpet with the Toledo Symphony, (Ohio). Susan was still based at Indiana University but was, at that time, teaching at, a few, colleges and universities in the region. I learned so much form her. She was the first trumpet instructor, in my experience, that emphasized the physical conditioning aspects of performance. That was very timely and important advice then and it continues to serve me well now.

Susan Slaughter is a GREAT musician, (IMHO).

Best regards, Susan.

Re: Susan Slaughter to retire.

I was fortunate to study with Susan when she was in Toledo. I was a student at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonais Illinois, she would commute! It was around this time that she went to St. Louis. All the best Susan and what a first class act.
Thanks,
Dave Wooten

Re: Susan Slaughter to retire.

I see the headline on the front page of the local newspaper:

The Saint Louis Symphony got slaughtered.

Yes, Susan is an incredible player and has been an incredible inspiration to a whole generation of female trumpet players - although the guys could learn something too!
