Bah, don't get discouraged. I'll never be great but that doesn't mean I won't try to improve. Some people are just "freaks" (and I mean that in a good way). Admire if you like and keep practicing.

Do you beat yourself up because you can't ride a bike like Lance Armstrong?

Check out the girl who won the 2009 Youth NTC...Natalie Dungey. You can find videos of her on Dave Monette's Facebook page as well as on youtube. She's only 10.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think most people get overwhelmed by child prodigies. In most cases, it looks like the only difference between those who are outrageously good at a young age and those who've gradually developed the work ethic and motivation to do the things necessary to be a virtuoso is that the young kids get working about 3 or so years before their peers. although it's a HUGE difference as a high school player, it's only three years, which isnt a whole lot in the real world.

Also a lot of these child prodigies get burned out before they're 21 years old. There are some exceptions to that rule, Wynton, Sergei Nakariakov, but I try to not let it bother me...
