Transcribing or finding...Schindler's List Theme arr. Gary Burch

Okay, so...I have this piece that I really want to find and transpose myself if I can find the music, or transcribe...unless someone already has, by any chance, or knows where to find the music/the composer. It's the Schindler's List Theme arranged by Gary Burch. This piece is originally for trombone/piano, played on Don Lucas' Cantabile CD, but I have no clue where to find the music. Anyone have any ideas? I emailed Mr. Lucas at his BU email, but no reply yet.

Re: Transcribing or finding...Schindler's List Theme arr. Gary Burch

Were you specifically wanting that particular arrangement?

(Btw – I'm assuming you know that the original film score was by John Williams. Itzhak Perlman is playing the theme here.)

Actually, yes-I know that John Williams wrote the original score, however, this is a specific instrument/piano arrangement that I was going for. I don't know if there are others out there or not, but that's the particular one I was looking for-however, if there are others that are similar, I might could use them/adapt them for trumpet and piano. That particular arrangement is just very good to me.

Well, that leads me mostly to the MP3's and CD's of the piece. That IS defeinitely the arragement, but I'm looking for the sheet music, or to see if anyone knows where to buy it from. I suppose I can transcribe it, however. Here's a question-transcribing from trombone/piano to trumpet/piano...then playing in public for a recital...doesn't that break copyright laws?

Re: Transcribing or finding...Schindler's List Theme arr. Gary Burch

Sorry, no more "brainwaves" at this end. Hope it turns up – it'd work a treat on trumpet (or flüg?).

Re: trombone/piano to trumpet/piano – who's to know that you're not doing the read-it-down-a-fifth-and-add-two-sharps thing? I'd be pretty relaxed on that count.

Good luck! deebee

true story there. I guess the mystery is where to find the music then...I can't seem to find Gary Burch on the web anywhere, otherwise I'd contact him directly.

I taught with Gary for a couple of years - he's still in Texas, I think but I haven't seen him in a while - let me make a couple of calls tomorrow and see if I can find some contact info for you.....

Tim, that would be amazing. I'd even pay him to re-arrange it if he had to. I'm not sure about the range. Either way, I'd just like to find him and the piece...Don Lucas never replied...
