trumpet and band Anybody know of any great trumpet solos with band accompaniment - other than the usual Arutunian, Kennan, Carnival of Venice, La Virgen de la Macarena, etc. I'm looking for something challenging and new. I know Tony Plog has a new piece for flugel and wind ensemble. Anyone heard it? Thanks for any help!

Re: trumpet and band Willow Echoes is a nice old cornet solo. www.mymccb.org/music/WillowEchoes.mp3 is a recording of our community band playing along with a guest soloist, Marcia Nelson-Kline. It's a crude recording, but good enough to get an idea of the piece. Wynton - has recorded Grand Russian Fantasia and it's awesome.

Re: trumpet and band There is a piece called Trumpet in the Night by Simone that is pretty nice, I did it a long time ago with piano but I know it is also scored for band.

Re: trumpet and band I have a piece that I premiered last year with a pretty average (ability) high school band. Called "Champions," it's ina fast-slow-fast, single mvt format. C trumpet part works its way to a high Eb toward the end but is pretty modest range overall. Contact me for a PDF of the solo part and we can then talk about the bandt parts. Mike Stewart

Re: trumpet and band If you're still looking, I have scored several of my works with band accompaniment: 1) Sonata for Trumpet with Band acc. 2) Concerto for trumpet w/ band (played at ITG 2007) 3) Neapolitan Sketches 4) Duo Fantastique (for 2 trpts/band - also played at ITG 2007) Go to Music of composer and arranger James Stephenson for more info, and to listen. They're all new, and challenging - and if I dare say - fun to listen to and play. Let me know if you're interested! Jim Stephenson Music of composer and arranger James Stephenson

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: trumpet and band Alan Hovhaness wrote a couple of beautiful Trumpet and Band work. "Return and Rebuild the Desolate Places," is a work that I performed at a N.Y. Brass Conference with the All-City Band. "The Prayer of Saint Gregory" is also scored for band. Both are challenging. Wilmer |
