![]() ![]() | "Trumpet Day(s)" at the LA Phil For any of you close to Los Angeles, we are in the middle of a music festival entitled "Concrete Frequency". Many, many difficult pieces crammed into two weeks (7 concerts). Anyway, this coming Thursday and Friday, we will be featuring three phenomenal trumpeters on the same program. Alison Balsom will be playing Zimmerman's Nobody Knows de Trouble I See, Gabriele Cassone will be doing Berio's Sequenza X, and as an unprinted encore, Wayne Bergeron is doing 'Round Midnight. Should be quite a show! J |

![]() | Re: "Trumpet Day(s)" at the LA Phil Jim, I'll be there both nights. Cassone is coming up to CalArts on Saturday to give Sequenza X in a class (with Tom Stevens and I) as well. Join us for a beer after one of the shows? Best, EC |

![]() ![]() | Re: "Trumpet Day(s)" at the LA Phil Sounds good. Thursday might be better as this program is easy for me - Don was kind enough to spread the work around a bit. I got hammered on this past show, and the last two get tough again, so if it works for you, let's aim for that. J |

Parking is ample but a bit pricey (you don't drive an Acura, do you? Sometimes there is free parking for Acura owners). I would plan to get there by about 7:30 or so, earlier if you want to look around the hall - there's a LOT to see. J | |

![]() ![]() | Re: "Trumpet Day(s)" at the LA Phil Hakan was supposed to play this concert - he cancelled and they brought in Alison. I think her hands were full with the Zimmerman, so then they tried to get one of us to play the Berio with about a month's notice J |
