"Trumpet Outings" New Etude/duet book now available at BIM!

Greetings, everyone!

I'm pleased to announce that my new etude/duet book, Trumpet Outings, is now available from Editions BIM of Switzerland. The company is also holding a contest for the best recording of one of the etudes in the book. Please check it out at

www:Editions Bim and The Brass Press, International Music Publishing.

Trumpet Outings consists of some sixteen etudes and twelve duets (one is actually a trio). These pieces are intended for high intermediate to advanced players, and cover a wide range of styles and techniques. Some of them address particular technical issues, and others are musical sketches, impressions, or tributes to well-known composers. The one for the contest is number 10, titled "A la Richard Strauss," written for trumpet in F.

If you liked the Broiles books, I know you will enjoy discovering and performing these pieces. You can get yours now in time for the holidays. I had a great time writing them, and I'm looking forward to finishing Book Two. Thanks for your support, and Happy Holidays!

Best wishes,
Charles (Chas) Reskin

Siarr,
I know you meant well, but posting this in every forum is out of line. This is an ad and does NOT belong everywhere.

I consider this SPAM in every non-applicable forum. Shame on you!

Dear Rowuk,

I appreciate your input, and I apologize to you and any others who may have taken offense at my posting. I was not trying to be a huckster, nor am I selling something that would not be useful to the members of these forums. This is my first composition to be published by a major house, and I'm naturally a bit excited about it. It seemed perfectly natural and logical to me to "promote" a book that just may be useful and interesting to many of the forum members and their students. I certainly would want to know about a new book like this if the shoe were on the other foot. I'm not trying to rope people into some money-making scheme or into buying something that is unrelated to the subject of these forums. I'm not in this for the money. If I got a little carried away, again, I'm sorry if I caused any inconvenience; it was not done maliciously. I have enjoyed many of your posts, and have also learned a great deal from many other members, some of which were, indeed, endorsing or "promoting" a particular brand of horn or a particular piece of music. I hope you will forgive a relative newbie this indiscretion. I have devoted countless unpaid hours to the writing of this book, and I have put my best efforts into it. You bet I want to get it heard! The book has received warm compliments from some of the major trumpet players around. I would hope that many of you would give a fellow player who has produced something of potential value to them a little encouragement. I'm on your side, guys!

Respectfully,

Chas Reskin

Chas,
Just posting it here (where it belongs) would have been just fine, but in every single forum? I have no doubts about the content and BIM is a reputable publishing house. Believe me, you will not reach one additional paying customer this way.

As noted, it is not the promotion that was an issue. It was that you posted it in every forum here and on trumpetherald. It seems like spam when you do that, whether you meant it that way or not. Things like that can backfire on you.

How did you get hooked up with BIM. Did you approach them with your etude book?

Thanks again to all for the clarifications and advice. Once again, I apologize for "spamming" the forum - I'm new to all this and I had no idea it would provoke such a strong reaction. I simply thought that I would reach more people if I posted it on many forums. I'm very sorry and embarrassed about this, and I hope you'll all see fit to look beyond my obviously inappropriate multiple postings. I would never have done anything to knowingly jeopardize my standing on these forums. Again, please accept my sincere apologies for an honest mistake.

Best wishes,
Chas Reskin
