Re: Video games bring the public to orchestra concerts?

Seems strange doesn't it? My 22 yr. old son didn't get into orchestral or jazz at all until he got into watching anime movies. We were careful as to what we would let him see, much of anime is pretty risque, but it was enough to turn him on to a whole new world of great music! He now listens to and loves so much more than I would have thought.(he particularly loves Bach!) It may seem a little off topic but when he was in high school video games, computer games and anime went hand in hand. Fortunately the end result here was positive.

Re: Video games bring the public to orchestra concerts?

Having orchestras play video game music gives the younger crowd something to relate to when it comes to the orchestra and classical music.
It acts as a gateway to expand their musical horizons outside of 50 cent and Britney Spears.

I know the Toronto Symphony has done at least one of these shows, as well as a Star Wars show. They sell those concerts out and they attract lots of media to the orchestra.
