![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Where is Michael Jackson, really? I just got done listening to Symphonic Metamorphosis by Hindemith, and Michael Jackson popped to mind, and the question: where is Michael Jackson, really? I had a dual existence in the 70's and 80's, playing funk while learning symphonic literature; Michael Jackson had some great tunes, but so did Chicago; Blood, Sweat and Tears; Tower of Power; Earth, Wind and Fire, and they all had some great had some great horn lines, mostly written within the band. Michael could sing and dance and had the Motown hard sell down cold. Would we count him amongst the great rock musicians, like Frank Zappa (a modern Bach), Prince (a modern Mozart) and Jerry Garcia (a modern Jerry Garcia)? Would we count him amongst the great performers, like Elvis? Where is he? If, as it seems, America (if not the world) are going to give him Favorite Child status, why didn't Hindemith, why not Orff, why not Copeland or Bernstein, or Ray Charles acheive that? I dunno. Please tell, my droogies...

![]() | Re: Where is Michael Jackson, really? I read this thread thinking it might be talking about Michael's eternal soul. He was a great man - one of the most popular of all time. My sentiments lie in the words "Rest In Peace". As a Christian myself, I hope that the king of pop knew the King of Kings. (Sorry to over-spiritualize for some of you here)

![]() | Re: Where is Michael Jackson, really? Jeeze, even on TrumpetMaster we can't escape this MJ idolization. Oh, well, sorry to all who worship him, but he meant nothing to me. I mean, I feel more despair in my heart, for example, towards young Neda Soltan's death / murder. Anyway, what's the King of Pop doing in the Orchestral / Solo / Chamber Music forum? All due respect to the moderator, but Jacko's perhaps a TM lounge discussion, I think, especially after another day of being deluged by the media on this topic. ![]() ![]() | Re: Where is Michael Jackson, really? Hi Vulgano While its unusual to talk about MJ on a trumpet forum, what the heck, I'll throw my two cents in. MJ was one of the greatest collaborative efforts (in his post Jackson 5 years) in music history. "MJ&Q" |

I hear ya, Solar, but I'm afraid the MJ hysteria has spewed into the Lounge as well, just like the "We love you, Michael" supporters and their fanaticism that filled his pockets with billions enough to build his secluded pedofile retreat...and get away with it. |

Hypocrisy is for those that demand the protection that the constitution offers, but are unwilling to give others the benefit. A nations public opinion driven by the drivelling yellow press requires people to stand up for what is right and force due course instead of accepting half truths. There is no protection for the stars. Once rumors are out there, it is impossible to get true justice.
