WILLIAM LOVELOCK - CONCERTO

William Lovelock Concerto -

Has anyone heard this performed lately? I found one Australian recording of it on the web done by Geoffrey Payne. I had heard that there was a recording of Doc doing it. Any comments ??

Thanks.

Manny Laureano has a spectacular aura about
I know that Doc has performed it but didn't know that he'd actually recorded it! It was one of those things that I heard him play with Boston Pops years ago. Man, that guy is strong as a bull.

Just received the CD I ordered of Geoffrey Payne doing the Lovelock.

If any of you don't have this CD I recommend it.

It's a double CD with a good assortment of pieces including the Tomasi, Haydn, Hummel, Aratunian and of course the Lovelock.

I have CD of him with Tomasi, Lovelock, Mills, and Arutunian. But no Hummel etc. That guy sounds amazing and if he plays live anything like his CD it is surprising he is not more well known.

HD,

Correct. He IS a great ... real "balls out" player (sorry for the crued expression)...

I've renewed my interest in the Lovelock and now really wish I could hear Doc doing it.... he is also a "let it fly" type of player that the concerto seems to demand.

He does a nice job on the Arutunian too.

It's sad Australia is on the other side of the world....
