![]() | Re: American Idol From what i understand, American Idol Musical Director, Rickey Minor, more or less uses the same band each week, rhythm section. He uses different horn players week to week, usually younger guys to help give them an opportunity. There was an article in the AFM musicians union paper about Rickey Minor and the band about 1 1/2 years ago.

I worked with him a long time ago when he was touring with Natalie Cole. Sat right next to him. Great stuff. He sounded phenominal on AI. Gave me the chill bumps!! way to go, man...

![]() | Re: American Idol I got to know Dave in the early 80's when he was a kid going to Stetson Univ. here in central FL. Being originallyfrom Orlando he had great exposure then through Disney and other venues. The general concensus at the time was that..."when he learns to control those chops, there won't be any stopping that kid!" I'm glad to see he's done well for himself. He is one of those players that doesn't seem to be working very hard or playing very loud. That is until you get about 20 - 30 ft. out in from of him. It' a whole different story out there!
