Barrie Lee Hall, Jr. and the Duke Ellington Small Band

Do yourselves a favor and check out the great Barrie Lee Hall. Barrie is a Houston native and often fronts the Duke Ellington Band. He's a great guy!

Check out The Shepard!!! Dirty!!!! Barrie spent years sitting next to Cootie Williams and it rubbed off. Great plunger playing!

I love the way this cat plays!!!

I got a chance to meet and work with Barrie Lee when the Mercer Ellington orchestra played with the Brooklyn Philharmonic. What a trumpet player!
We played Duke's "Harlem." If you don't know this bit of Ellingtonia you are missing some of his most exciting music.
Barrie was the lead trumpet of this band's excellent trumpet section. John Longo Sr., James Zollar were the other players in the section. They burned. The work has lots of pyrotechnics in the trumpets. Barrie Lee Hall carries the torch of the Ellington trumpet section admirably.
