Bay Area Bill Ortiz Dates

Hi Everyone-I'm doing a couple of festival gigs in the SF Bay area the next week or so-on Aug. 24 I'm performing at Club Jupiter in Berkeley as part of the Downtown Berkeley Jazz Festival. I'm thrilled to have some great bay area musicians with me-

Cedricke Dennis on guitar (Dave Ellis, Ledisi, Braxton Bros.)
Mike Aaburg on piano (Goapele, Lalah Hathaway)
Darryl Anders on bass (Tower Of Power, Joyce Colling)
Jesus Diaz on percussion (Andy Narrell, Omar Sosa)
Josh Jones on drums (Steve Coleman, Don Cherry)

We are playing 3 sets starting at 8:00 pm (no cover). We will be playing a mix of jazz and R & B- Some material by Kenny Garrett, Joe Henderson, Crusaders, Steve Grossman, Harold Land and perhaps some surprises.

We are also playing at the Art And Soul Festival in Downtown Oakland on Sept. 1st at noon. I hope you can come to the shows and enjoy!

Best regards,
Bill

Bill,
you sounded great at the San Jose Jazz Festival a couple of weeks ago. I also had a chance to hear Nicholas Payton and John Worley (Worley w/ Wayne Wallace). I was playing at the same time that Bobby Shew and Worley were on....it was a drag knowing that I couldn't hear them.......I also had a really long conversation with Wayne Bergeron....it's always fun catching up with him. I had a chance to hook up with my good buddies Brian McDonald, Neil Levonius and Scott Englebright. It was an awesome hang for trumpeters.
Anyway, knock 'em dead at the festival...and have fun doing it!!!
PEACE-rv

Bill,
I almost forgot---At San Jose,
Did you catch Marcus Belgrave? Robbie Kwock came down from Sacramento to play with Ileana Santamaria. I also got a chance to see Gilberto Castellanos....I'm not sure if you're familiar with him. He was playing with Charles McPherson.
Again, this last San Jose fest was a great one if you wanted to check out some trumpeters.
I hope to see you when you're in town with Santana.
