Big Band excerpt collections? Hi all, Obviously orchestral excerpt collections are all over the place. Has anybody made (let alone legitimately) an excerpt collection for "standard" lead or section arrangements? I think it would be a marketable collection, if there was any way to swing it copyrightwise, for those licks/solis that are performed often, and ones that you don't want to be sightreading on a gig. If it exists, I'd like to pick it up. Anyway, any thoughts?

I know there are copys of the North Texas 1:00 band trumpet books out there. But as for a legal one....Not that I know of. It's a great Idea, I'd buy it.

hey Paul- which UNT lead books do you have? I've got a McConnel/ LaBarbera/ Fedchock book, a Jones/ Byers/ Nestico book as well as a big fat misc. book w/ the standard UNT tunes. just curious. Also - do you have the Buddy Rich bus tape that was floating around down there - the version with the casio sounding intermission music? hehe cool. -Kelly

I never made a copy of my book when I left the 1:00 (4th trumpet). But I know many folks that did (and folks that never made the band but got copys). It also seemed like evey lead trumpet player down there had a copy of the lead book. Just in case they got called to sub or just to work on reading. I think when I was in the band there was close to 700 tunes in the book and you never knew what Neil would call so I just worked everything.
