Brian Lynch's "Simpático" wins a Grammy

The Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project's new CD, "Simpático" just won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album. If you're not familiar with Brian's playing, this is a great opportunity to hear him at his best!

"Simpático" features an all-star cast of jazz and Latin musicians, including Phil Woods, Conrad Herwig, Donald Harrison, Ruben Rodriguez, Giovanni Hidalgo, fellow nominees Edsel Gomez and Dafnis Prieto, and vocalist Lila Downs, just to name a few.

I heard him (up close) at a jam session at the hotel I was staying at a few years ago. He can play! I stayed downstairs 'till after 3 AM listening to him.

I bought it a couple months back (mine was hand numbered #59 out of 10,000).Terrific CD, great playing (Phil Woods plays his ass off, and Eddie is of course his usual superb self) and great writing. I got the package that included a few pdf's of tunes, and I transcribed Guajira Dubois for my kiddie latin band. It's pretty advanced but it is rounding into shape and they love the challenge.
